Can a 5 MWh Battery Container Fit Your Site?
Plan a PowerFac-5M site review using HUA-X’s published 5,016 kWh specification, container dimensions and DC-side interfaces. Identify the drawings, delivery information and project inputs needed before approving the layout.
To assess whether a HUA-X PowerFac-5M battery container can fit your site, start with its published 6,058 × 2,438 × 2,896 mm dimensions and approximately 43 t mass. Then review the complete equipment layout, delivery access, foundations and electrical interfaces. PowerFac-5M is a liquid-cooled DC-side platform with 5,016 kWh of nominal battery energy; the project’s AC power, usable energy and installation area require separate definition. [1] [2]
PowerFac-5M specifications that matter for site planning
For a renewable energy, grid-support or large microgrid project, use the product data as the starting point for a controlled engineering review. The table pairs each published input with the decision it helps prepare. It does not replace the project-specific drawing or quotation. [1] [2]
| Published PowerFac-5M input | Value | Follow-up for your project |
|---|---|---|
| Nominal battery energy | 5,016 kWh (5.016 MWh) | Define target AC power, operating duration and usable energy at the agreed measurement point. |
| Architecture and cooling | DC-side battery platform; liquid cooling | Identify the proposed PCS and the cooling auxiliary supply and energy allowance. |
| External dimensions (L × W × H) | 6,058 × 2,438 × 2,896 mm | Request the controlled general arrangement with access and installation allowances. |
| Approximate mass | 43 t | Confirm final shipping configuration, handling information and support-point loads. |
| Nominal DC voltage | 1331.2 V | Keep the battery-side voltage separate from the AC connection specification. |
| DC operating voltage | 1164.8–1497.6 V | Check the proposed PCS DC input range and interface requirements. |
How much space does the container itself occupy?
The published length and width give a dimension rectangle of 6.058 m × 2.438 m = 14.769404 m², or approximately 14.77 m². This calculation describes the enclosure projection only. A project layout must separately accommodate access, maintenance, safety provisions and any equipment outside the battery container. No universal total installation area can be derived from these dimensions alone. [1] [2]
Use the PowerFac-5M procurement brief to identify the published baseline, then request a layout for the exact offered configuration and equipment scope. Keep enclosure dimensions, foundation arrangements and the complete site boundary distinct on that drawing so the EPC and procurement team review the same physical scope.
Can the delivered configuration reach the installation position?
Use the approximate 43 t product mass to flag transport and lifting as early review items, then request the final shipping mass and handling instructions. Ask the responsible logistics and civil teams to confirm the delivery route, unloading position, lifting arrangement and site access against that configuration. The published mass alone does not establish vehicle selection, crane capacity or a foundation design. [1] [2]
For the foundation review, request the actual support locations and loads together with the site investigation inputs. Dividing the product mass by the 14.77 m² rectangle would not supply those missing inputs. Keep transport and civil assumptions visible until the responsible engineers confirm them.
Define the DC-side and AC-side responsibilities
PowerFac-5M’s published DC operating range is 1164.8–1497.6 V. Ask the proposed PCS supplier to confirm its applicable DC input range and interface requirements. The 5,016 kWh rating describes nominal battery energy; it does not specify AC export power or guarantee usable energy at the grid connection. [1] [2]
Request a supply-boundary schedule covering the battery container, PCS, transformer, switchgear, controls, communications, protection and auxiliary supplies. Identify the supplier and interface owner for each item, along with installation and commissioning responsibilities. This prevents a container-only scope and a complete project scope from being treated as interchangeable quotations. The DC-side BESS and complete AC system guide explains how to describe those boundaries in the enquiry.
Review site conditions before fixing the layout
Identify the project country, ambient conditions, access constraints and connection requirements in the enquiry. Request the applicable operating limits and site-specific design inputs for the proposed PowerFac-5M configuration. Assess local approval and safety requirements for the actual site. [1] [2]
Independent UK government guidance discusses access during installation, maintenance and emergencies, transport routes beyond the site gate, lifting and drainage planning. Use these as prompts for the responsible project team, with requirements checked in the actual jurisdiction. They do not provide a universal PowerFac-5M separation distance or a completed site design. [3]
Match safety evidence to the proposed layout
The UK government’s April 2024 good-practice guidance for grid-scale battery projects advises integrators to check that their own configuration matches the conditions covered by component tests. It also recommends early emergency planning with the local fire and rescue service. Use these points to define the documents needed for the proposed PowerFac-5M layout. [3], sections 3.2.1.2 and 3.5.
| Document to discuss | Question for the project team |
|---|---|
| Test evidence | Which components and arrangement were tested, under which conditions, and what differs from the proposed configuration? |
| Site risk review | Which risks from the site and nearby activities affect the proposed layout or mitigation? |
| Emergency arrangements | Who provides access routes, equipment information and response procedures for local review? |
In the PowerFac-5M document request, identify the records you have and the documents still needed. Agree who will provide each missing item and which layout decisions need further review.
Include noise data in the layout review
For a PowerFac-5M project, include noise from the complete proposed installation when reviewing the layout. Scottish Government BESS guidance identifies cooling equipment, inverters and transformers as relevant sound sources; equipment operating together and at night can affect nearby residents. Ask the project acoustic adviser which operating scenarios and assessment locations are needed for your site. [4]
Request noise data for the exact equipment and operating mode under consideration. The Environment Agency’s guidance asks how manufacturer sound-power data was obtained and distinguishes it from sound measured or predicted at an assessment location. A quoted sound-pressure level needs its measurement distance and conditions to be useful in that review. [5]
| Input | What to request or provide | Who to involve |
|---|---|---|
| Equipment included | Cooling equipment, proposed PCS and transformers; quantities and positions. [4] | EPC and each equipment supplier |
| Acoustic data | Exact configuration, sound-power data and test basis; distance and conditions for any sound-pressure figure. [5] | Equipment supplier and acoustic adviser |
| Operating scenarios | Relevant charge, discharge and standby-cooling modes, simultaneous operation and proposed night-time duty. [4] [5] | Owner, EPC and equipment suppliers |
| Site conditions | Nearby homes or other sensitive locations, representative background sound and the proposed layout. [4] | Local acoustic adviser and planning team |
For a PowerFac-5M enquiry, request the available configuration-specific acoustic information and identify who will supply equivalent data for the PCS and transformer. Share the plot plan and proposed operating hours with the acoustic adviser. Agree the local assessment criteria before fixing equipment positions or noise-control measures. [4] [5]
What to include in your PowerFac-5M site enquiry
- Project country and application: describe the renewable, grid-support or microgrid use and the current project stage.
- Site information: identify the available plot drawing or survey, access restrictions, relevant ground information and ambient conditions.
- Electrical objective: state intended AC power, operating purpose, dispatch requirements and what is known about the connection point. Identify missing inputs rather than inserting assumed values.
- Proposed system scope: identify container quantity, the proposed PCS or AC architecture, and which balance-of-system items and services need clarification.
- Documents requested: ask for the current controlled PowerFac-5M data sheet and general arrangement, delivery and handling information, support loads, electrical interfaces and the proposed supply boundary.
Request the PowerFac-5M site-planning document pack with the available site and connection information. Ask for the current controlled drawings, delivery and handling information, support loads and electrical interfaces. Agree the outstanding project inputs and responsible parties before treating the layout as ready for approval.
