Seasonal Battery Operation Supports a Heat-Pump Home near Warsaw
A Warsaw household combined a PowerHom-10F with rooftop solar and a heat pump, reducing annual grid purchases from 9,200 kWh to 4,100 kWh through seasonally adjusted operation.

Winter heating changed the household load
A 180 m² home near Warsaw used an 8 kW air-source heat pump and a 6.5 kWp solar array. Winter heat-pump consumption averaged 32 kWh a day, with peak household demand reaching 6.8 kW. This created a different operating requirement from the lighter summer load.
The owner needed a storage strategy that changed with the season instead of applying the same daily schedule throughout the year.
A 10.24 kWh battery in a heated equipment room
The installation paired one PowerHom-10F with an 8 kW hybrid inverter. The battery supplied 10.24 kWh of nominal storage at 51.2 V and 200 Ah. In winter, operation prioritised the heating load and charging after 22:00 in the lower-price period. Summer operation focused on household solar self-consumption.
The battery was placed in a heated equipment room. Even when outdoor temperatures reached −12°C, the room remained above 12°C, avoiding exposure of the battery to the outdoor winter temperature.
Lower annual grid purchases
Annual purchased electricity fell from 9,200 kWh to 4,100 kWh. At the project's 2025 electricity-price basis of PLN 0.92 per kWh, the saving was approximately PLN 4,700 a year. The household received PLN 8,000 in project support, with a net simple-payback estimate of 5.2 years.
The result reflects the combined operation of solar, storage and the heating system. It shows why seasonal heating demand and the battery's installation environment belong in residential system planning.
